Predictions can be described as psychically received information that actually describes/predicts future events and outcomes. Some common aids used are by Clairvoyance are Dowsing with a pendulum, Automatic writing, Tarot and Runes. But there are many other potent methods that psychics may employ such as holding an objects belonging to the person requesting the psychic reading (psychometry). Some psychic don’t need anything at all except to hear your voice of be given your name. The method used doesn’t matter as much as number one, how accuaret are they? Number two, how good are they at interpreting and conveying truthfully what they are picking up? Are they being inpartial and do you feel that they have your best interests at heart?

So what ‘extra’ skills should you look for when tracking down a good psychic to obtain a reading in addition to psychic ability?
A good reputation is a given, if they have a few years of experience, thats can be a bonus too. If you know they have been tested by the press or TV, that can be quite a good indication but what is of equal importance? I would advise a seeker to find a well educated psychic that may also have counselling skills. Why? Because although you have phoned them for a psychic reading and don’t want a counsellor, it does show they are of a certain standard in many ways. First of all and most importantly this will mean that they should have been taught how to care for people’s emotional wellbeing and know about ethics! Secondly, if they thought enough about what they do as a psychic to realise that their job may require them to deal with and help those in shock, the bereaved, the broken hearted and distressed at times, and knew that some clients would need their expertise and help far more than just simply being given accurate psychic information, It does show that they are well aware of their responsibility and care enough about their clients to get themselves trained in the best way to help those who consult them.

It may also indicate that they have been taught to be impartial and non judgemental. This is an important skill for a psychic to have and will help them impart honestly any psychic information that they glean for you with out censoring or pre-judging either you or your current situation. It will also mean that they will be able to put you in touch with or advise you to seek the help of other professional in different fields should you need it.

If you consult a psychic and they appear to have any form of obvious prejudice, be very weary that they’re not allowing this their own hang ups to get mixed up and included in the advice they are imparting to you as facts and psychic information. Choose a warm, genuine psychic who has the ability to detach a little from themselves and their likes and dislikes and who is able to therefore be completely honest with you about the psychic reading they are offering you and the information that comes through uncensored where appropriate.

2. Always ask the psychic advisor for full details of their fees before confirming an appointment of consultation.

3. Make sure he or she is offering the genre of reading you require. Some clairvoyants offer predictive readings; other psychics specialise in problem solving for any issues that your having and some are strictly concerned with contacting those who have passed, past lives readings, or career guidance. Make the effort to find out exactly what kind of reading a consultant offers to avaoid dissapointment.

4. Ask if you make notes or tape the consultation. Bring a notebook with you and record what the clairvoyant predicts. If you have a small tape-recorder bring it with you, being aware that they sometimes stop working during a psychic consultation!

5. If you don’t understand what the your being told, don’t be afraid to say so. A genuine advisor won’t object.

6. Many people feel that a face to face reading is best- but consider this. Should you opt for a phone reading with a talented professional don’t you think the deatils they pick up about your appearance or hair colour can be pretty impressive when they can’t actually see you and have never met you? In person a reader can assume all manner of things about your health, wealth and emotional state without being psychic in the least. Consider a telephone reading instead.

7. If a clairvoyant tells you there is a “hex, spell” or “curse” on you and offers to remove it for a fee, leave as fast as you can run away, they are conning you. Also be wary of readers who offer to sell you expensive “wish” candles or talismans. These people are not genuine psychics and should be avoided at all costs.

8. Would a good psychic charge me a fee to read for me? Would a roofer charge you to fit a new roof on your home, or a plumber to fix a leak? Yes they would! Any gifted professional is going to charge a fee for their services. So don’t be taken in by ads claiming to offer ‘free readings’. They will most likely fall into the ‘not genuine’ pile if they do and try to sell you expensive items like ‘magic crystals to cover their costs. Being psychic does not mean you don’t have bills to pay or food to buy. Expect to pay a fair price for a quality psychic.

Of course I cannot say with any more accuracy than anyone else that all of them are genuine, but having been invited to be behind the scenes on a few I can give you some idea of what I have witnessed personally.

I witnessed some 8 shows being made from behind the scenes for UK TV. What impressed me about the show was the length that they went to to ensure no trickery was possible. They decided to test many popular psychics (those whom they could persuade to appear, in a competiton like format. Those with claimed psychic abilities were assembled and contended against each other in an attempt to prove they were genuine and authentic gifted with paranormal gifts such as E.S.P. The TV show gathered a mix of psychics, astrologers, clairvoyants, aura and tarot readers together. Who by various methods including psychometry, Tarot cards, astrology data, were given one piece of relevant data to enable them to see how much detail they could provide by paranormal means alone on a mystery guest.

I was impressed by the effort that the crew put in to ensure it was a valid test. The psychics were picked up in the early hours of the morning before filming and taken to the very basement of a studio, with no TV, no newspapers, mobile phones or internet. They were each assigned an unknown crew members to accompany them the entire time they were at the studio with a security guard over seeing the room in which they were kept. They were not even able to go to the bathroom alone! Additionally, several well known and respected members of the British press were around the entire time to ensure and attest to ‘fair play’ and they had access all areas to make double sure no cammera tricks or crew were enabling any cheating.

The psychics were given one appropriate piece on info or contact in one form or another. The astrologers were merely given the ‘mystery guests’ date of birth, the taror readers were placed in a room with the guest cloaked head to foot in robes with their faces covered and able to ask the ‘guest’ to caut the Tarot cards. The psychics versed in psychometry (the ability to hold an object once owned or held by the guest and pick up information on a psychic level from the object, often metal) were simply placed in a room with a researcher given a key, watch, or in one case simply a shoelace and had 30 minutes to tell the researcher and camera exactly what information they could pick up about the mystery guest. Then the show was made right away and all the info given.

Now as you might expect (either because they were simply not genuine, very good or extremly nervous many psychics performed poorly. However a handful did not. One psychic who used psychometry preoduced fact after fact about the mystery guest that was proven and confirmed by the person themselves to be totally accurate. The psychic after holding an object even spoke the persons first name and a snippet of information only known by the guest themselves that they swore they had never revealed to another living soul!

Next time you see a TV show about psychics, don’t assume that it’s staged without finding out how it was made.
